Dr. Winkler has a passion for all oculofacial surgery and provides reconstructive expertise for eyelid, orbit lacrimal system and periorbital issues and brings his experience to Intent Medical Group at the Endeavor Health Advanced Neurosciences Center. Dr. Stephen Winkler started his training at Northwestern in general surgery then went on to the Krieger Eye Institute in Baltimore where he completed his ophthalmology residency and served as the chief resident. He has previously been a preceptor and instructor for both ophthalmology residents and oculoplastic fellows during his time in Baltimore.

He next completed a competitive two-year American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) approved fellowship under James Karesh, MD and Marc Hirschbein, MD. He is a double board certified by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and American Board of Ophthalmology. Completing his ASOPRS thesis on oculofacial anthrax and reconstruction following these devastating infections, he provides insight on this rare entity and other rare reconstructive complications that arise. He has published book chapters and research in both ophthalmology and oculoplastic literature and has presented at national meetings in both subspecialties.
